Remove

Remove lower engine compartment paneling.

Detach hydraulic line (2) from longitudinal member.

 To do this, release the retaining clip (1).

Remove air filter housing.

Extract brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir (3).

 Commercially available devices/tools
Extraction bellows

Detach feed line (4) from clutch master cylinder (5).

 Seal the openings using suitable  stop plugs . Collect discharged brake fluid in a suitable container.

 Record plug

Release safety clip (10) and detach hydraulic line (2) from clutch master cylinder (5).

 Seal the openings using suitable  stop plugs . Collect discharged brake fluid in a suitable container.

 Record plug

Remove left cover below instrument panel.

Disconnect electrical connectors (6).

Detach pedal bracket (8).

 To do this, unscrew the nuts (9).

Remove pedal bracket (8).

 The clutch pedal (7), the clutch master cylinder (5) and the pedal bracket (8) form a unit and can only be replaced as a unit.



Install

Modify both clutch pedal switches.

If the pedal bracket (8) is replaced.

Move pedal bracket (8) to installation position.


Do not use lubricants on the bearing bushings of the clutch pedal (7) and clutch master cylinder (5).
Otherwise the bearing bushings will be damaged.

Attach pedal bracket (8).

 Nut, clutch pedal carrier to firewall

Establish the electrical connections (6).

Attach hydraulic line (2) to clutch master cylinder (5).


Do not use any lubricants.
Otherwise the clutch master cylinder (5) will be damaged.


Make sure that the safety clips (10) are locked correctly.
Leaks can occur otherwise.

 Remove  stop plugs.

 Record plug

Attach feed line (4) to clutch master cylinder (5).

 Remove  stop plugs. Check seal of feed line (4) for damage.

 Record plug

If damage is present.



Replace damaged seal of feed line (4).

Attach hydraulic line (2) to longitudinal member.

 Check retaining clip (1) for damage.

If damage is present.



Replace damaged retaining clip (1).

Check leak tightness of hydraulic line (2) at clutch master cylinder (5).

 Visual inspection only.

If leakage is present:



Rectify leakage.
