Shift transmission (2) to neutral position.

Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery.

Remove propeller shaft.

Remove lower engine compartment paneling.

 Installation: Only install lower engine compartment paneling after leak test.

Remove propeller shaft of front axle differential.

Detach bracket (8) from transmission (2).

 To do this, remove bolts (9) .

 Bolt, holder for shift cable to transmission housing

Detach shift cable (1) and place outside working area with bracket (8).

 Remove screw (3) to do this.

 Screw, shift cable to lever

Disconnect electrical connectors from transfer case.

Disconnect electrical connector (10).

Remove screw (13).

Detach electrical wiring harness (11) with bracket (12) from transmission (2).

 Installation: Check mounting clamps of electrical wiring harness (11).

If corresponding findings are present,



Replace affected mounting clamps.

Remove starter.

Detach torque converter (4) from drive plate.

 The screws are accessible via the starter opening.

Remove rear engine carrier.

 When doing this, secure the transmission (2) on the mounting plate.

Detach oil lines from transmission (2) and brackets.

Lower transmission (2) slightly.

 The screws (5, 7) must be accessible.

Detach bracket of bleed lines (6).

 Remove screw (5) to do this.

Remove transmission (2) with torque converter (4).

Secure the torque converter (4) to prevent it from falling.
Otherwise damage will occur.

Remove torque converter (4).

For further disassembly work on the transmission (2) or if the torque converter (4) is replaced.

Check rear radial shaft sealing ring for leak tightness.

If corresponding findings are present,



Replace rear radial shaft sealing ring.

Remove/install cover with radial shaft sealing ring

Check oil level in transmission (2).

Correct oil level.

Read out fault memory using diagnostic device and erase existing faults.


