Remove shift mechanism

Remove upper shift housing (3)

 Remove circlip (28) and emergency shift lever (6) with bolt (24) and seal (23) and remove upper shift housing (3).

Remove roll pin (11) and detach shift gate indicator (12) from shift shaft (7)

Remove roll pin (13) and detach shift finger (14) with locking pawl (15) from shift shaft (7)

 Mark installation position of shift finger (14) and locking pawl (15).

 Assembly: After installing the shift finger (14) and the locking pawl (15) on the shift shaft (7) the position of the shift finger (14) must be checked and adjusted if necessary: 

Pull shift hub (8) with shift shaft (7) out of shift hub bearing cap (5), and while doing so remove index bolt (9) with spring (10)

 Assembly: Press index bolt (9) back so that it engages into the detent segment (18).

Remove circlip (22) from shift shaft (7) and pull shift shaft (7) out of gearshift hub (8)

 Mark position of shift shaft (7) relative to gearshift hub (8).

Press the shift shaft (7) in the direction of the gearshift hub (8) to relieve the stress on the circlip (22).

 Assembly: Grease teeth on shift shaft (7).

Remove retaining ring (19) from shift hub (8)

 Pre-tension spring using tensioning device.



Remove spring (20) and washers (21) from shift hub (8)

Remove radial shaft sealing ring (1) from shift shaft bearing cap (2) and upper shift housing (3)

 Assembly: Grease area behind lip.

Remove needle roller bearings (4) from shift shaft bearing cap (2), gearshift hub bearing cap (5) and upper shift housing (3)

 Assembly: Install needle roller bearing (4) until it abuts using suitable drift.

Grease needle roller bearing (4).



Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.

Remove grub screws (16) from notch lever (17) and pull off notch lever (17) from gearshift hub (8)

 Heat notch lever (17) beforehand, as the grub screws (16) are secured with locking compound.

 Assembly: Do not tighten grub screws (16) until the shift finger (14) is adjusted (step 4).

Remove detent segment (18) from shift hub bearing cap (5)

 Remove bolt (25) and lever detent segment (18) out of roll pins (26) using a suitable tool.

 Assemble:

Observe installation position (marking at front in direction of travel).


