Remove bottom part of noise encapsulation

Risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding from hot coolant which splashes out. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open the cooling system unless the coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and allow the pressure to release. Do not pour coolant into containers for drinks.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothes, and eye protection.

Drain coolant

Remove bottom charge air duct (10)

On engine 601.970

Remove coolant hose to coolant pipe (1)

 Remove coolant hose on one side

Unscrew bolt (2) of clip attaching coolant pipe (1)



Unscrew bolt (3) of coolant pipe bracket at crankcase

 Unclip cable strap at bracket



Unscrew bolt (4) of clip attaching coolant pipe (1) at bracket of oil pan (5)



Unbolt flange connection between exhaust manifold and front exhaust pipe

 Move front exhaust pipe to the side.

Remove coolant pipe (1) from the coolant thermostat cover (6)

 Replace seal.

Remove coolant pipe (1)

Install in the reverse order



Inspecting

Inspect cooling system for leaks
