 Danger !

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Drain coolant at radiator

Remove engine cover

 Installation: Only install engine cover after the leak test.

Disconnect electrical connection (2) from heating element thermostat (R48/2)

 The coolant thermostat heating element (R48/2) must not be removed from the thermostat housing (1).

Disconnect electrical connection (3) at coolant temperature sensor (B11/17)

Remove coolant hose (4) at coolant thermostat housing (1).

Remove coolant hose (5) at coolant thermostat housing (1).

Disconnect electrical connection (7) from bracket

Remove screw/bolts (8)

 Installation: Ensure that bracket is seated correctly.

 Bolt, coolant thermostat housing to cylinder head

Remove coolant hose (6) at coolant thermostat housing (1).

Remove coolant thermostat housing (1)

 To do this remove coolant thermostat housing (1) from coolant hose (9).

Install in the reverse order



Check

Check cooling circuit for leaktightness
