Inspecting cooling system for leaks

Removing

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Switch on ignition

Adjust heater to maximum heat output

Slowly unscrew cap on coolant expansion reservoir (1) and reduce overpressure

Check coolant level and antifreeze content coolant

Correct if necessary.



Screw on test cap (2) at coolant expansion reservoir (1).

Connect pressure pump (3) at test cap (2)

Apply test pressure to cooling system

 To prevent damage to cooling system, do not exceed stated test pressure.

Checking

Check Henn couplings for all coolant hoses

 Check Henn coupling for its condition and seating; replace detent springs on Henn couplings if necessary.

See Open and close Henn coupling.

Check coolant and heating hoses as well as their connecting points

 Check condition and coolant loss; replace coolant and heating hoses or their O-ring if required.



Install

10

Slowly unscrew tester cap (2) on coolant expansion reservoir (1) and reduce overpressure

Remove pressure pump (3)

Check coolant level

Screw cap onto coolant expansion reservoir (1)

Switch off ignition
