Caution | Risk of injury to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing engine oil | Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Danger | Risk of explosion due to escaping combustible gas or overheating of gas cylinders.Risk of injury caused by burns to skin and eyes. Risk of frostbite to body parts caused by escaping gas and by touching components near the valves when emptying gas cylinders. Risk of poisoning or suffocation caused by inhaling gas. | Remove any sources of ignition.
Warning | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

| Remove/install | ||
1 | Partially drain coolant and collect.
Catch coolant with suitable container.
Installation: Fill coolant, see operating instructions.
2 | Remove coolant feed line (6) and coolant return flow line (4) at compressor (1). | Install new sealing rings.
Banjo bolt, coolant line to compressor
3 | Remove air intake line (5) at compressor (1).
4 | Remove compressed-air line (7) at compressor (1). | Counterhold fitting (3).
Check compressed-air line (7) for carbonization.
If carbonization is present:
| |||
Replace compressed-air lines between compressor (1), compressed-air drier and 4-circuit protection valve.
5 | Remove cross-type plate (8) at compressor (1) or at power-steering pump (2). | Insert cross-type plate (8) in compressor (1) and secure with grease against slipping.
High-temperature grease
6 | Remove compressor (1) at crankcase. | Collect escaping engine oil.
Turn drive gear, if necessary. Tighten bolts diagonally.
Screw/bolt, compressor to crankcase
7 | Remove fitting (3) at compressor (1). | Only if fitting (3) is leaky or compressor (1) will be replaced.
Replace sealing ring. | |||
Fitting, compressed air line to compressor
8 | Install in the reverse order
9 | Check engine oil level. | If engine oil level is incorrect,
| |||
correct engine oil level.
10 | Start engine and allow to run in idle for approx. 10 s until the oil pressure is built up; then, allow the engine to run at varying engine speeds. | See information from body manufacturer.
11 | Check compressor (1) for leaks. | Carry out visual inspection. |
