1 | Switch off ignition | ||
2 | Open engine hood | ||
3 | Pull engine cover upwards off the cylinder head cover | When placing the engine cover , ensure that the seal is correctly seated at the oil filler neck. The seal should not be pressed down by the engine cover, but must lie against the engine cover . | |
Installation: Only install engine cover after engine test run. | |||
4 | Remove air filter housing | ||
5 | Detach charge air hose (1) from throttle valve actuator (M16/6) | Undo bolts (2) and loosen hose clamp (3). | |

6 | Disconnect electrical connectors (4, 6, 8) | Disconnect electrical connector (4) on throttle actuator (M16/6) and hang the electrical line on the bracket (5) | |
Disconnect electrical connector (6) on temperature sensor for inlet air (B17) and remove bracket (7) on intake manifold (14). Disconnect electrical connector (8) from pressure sensor (B28). | |||
7 | Reduce fuel pressure through service valve | ||
Danger! | Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel | No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear protective clothing when handling fuel. | |

8 | Remove fuel rail (9) together with fuel injection valves | ||
9 | Detach hoses (10, 11, 12) | Remove hose (10) from pulsed valve, detach hose (11) from throttle valve actuator (M16/6) and hose (12) from intake manifold (14). | |
10 | Remove intake manifold (14) | Remove bolts (13). | |
Installation: Clean sealing surfaces, replace seals on intake manifold (14) and inspect guide sleeves of intake manifold (14) for correct seating in the cylinder head to prevent leaks. | |||

12.1 | Remove pressure sensor (B28), temperature sensor for intake air (B17) and lines (15) | When replacing intake manifold (14) | |
13 | Install in the reverse order | ||
