 Caution

Risk of injury to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing engine oil

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

Remove/install

Remove glow plugs.

Remove cylinder head (1).

Attach the cylinder head (1) to the assembly device (01).

 Follow the operating instructions for the   assembly device manufacturer(01).

Put together the valve assembly device and mount it on the assembly device (01).

 Mount the retaining fork on the slide piece (05) and place the thrust piece (04) vertically on the upper valve spring retainer (2).

Press valve springs (3) together with the valve assembly tool and remove valve keepers (4).


Ensure that the valve keepers (4) are reliably seated.
Valve (6) will otherwise detach and damage engine.

 Use a tweezer or    magnet finger (07).

Remove the upper valve spring retainer (2) and valve spring (3).

Remove valve stem seals

Specified engine oils (service) - Overview

 Installation: Use new valve stem seals. Fit protective sleeve onto the valve stem. Oil valve stem seals and press on with a    drift.

Remove the lower valve spring retainer (5).

Remove cylinder head (1) from assembly device (01) and remove valves (6).

General information on checking valves, valve seats and valve guides

Check

Check all removed parts for damage.

If there are problems,



Replace appropriate parts.

Check shaft surface of the valves (6) for roughness and ridging.

If there are problems,



Replace valves (6)

Check valve seat rings for roughness and ridging.

If there are problems,



Replace cylinder head.

Install in the reverse order.
