Remove/install

Remove engine charge air duct from exhaust gas turbocharger.

 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Release and disconnect electrical connectors (2).

Clean area around the glow plugs (R9/1 to R9/4).

Mark glow plugs (R9/1 to R9/4) relative to respective installation location.

Where glow plugs (R9/1 to R9/4) are reused.

Remove glow plugs (R9/1 to R9/4).

 Installation: When reusing glow plugs (R9/1 to R9/4), install them again in the respective marked installation location.

Clean glow plug wells with a cylinder brush

Seal the glow plug wells using suitable stop plugs.

 Record plug

Install in the reverse order.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.

Install upper engine cover.
