 Caution

Risk of injury to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing engine oil

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

Remove/install

Remove upper engine cover.

 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Remove front noise insulation.

Release and disconnect electrical connector at CAMTRONIC actuator for intake cylinders 3 and 4 (Y49/20).

Remove electrical wiring harness from the CAMTRONIC actuator for intake cylinders 3 and 4 (Y49/20).

Remove screws/bolts (2).

 Installation: Replace screws (2).

 Screw, valve lift switching actuator to camshaft housing

Remove CAMTRONIC actuator for intake cylinders 3 and 4 (Y49/20) and seal opening with lint-free rag.

 Installation: Replace sealing ring.

Install in the reverse order.



Check

Read out and delete fault memory.



Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper leaktightness and leaktightness.

Install upper engine cover.
