Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove

Remove oil pan

Remove timing chain

Remove screw (4)


Do not turn crankshaft in this connection.
Engine damage can occur otherwise.

Remove chain tensioner (3)

Remove timing chain (5) together with drive gear (6) and crankshaft gear (7)



Check

Check timing chain (5), drive gear (6) and crankshaft gear (7) for damage and wear

Depending on findings



Replace corresponding components.



Install

Mount timing chain (5) on crankshaft gear (7)

 Align yellow color marking (11) on timing chain (5) with marking (12) on crankshaft gear (7).

Mount timing chain (5) on drive gear (6)

 Align blue color marking (13) on timing chain (5) with marking (14) on drive gear (6).

Install timing chain (5) together with drive gear (6) and crankshaft gear (7)


Position shoulder (10) of drive gear (6) to milled recess (9) of balance shaft (8).
Engine damage can occur otherwise.

Install chain tensioner (3)

Screw in bolts (4)


Do not turn crankshaft in this connection.
Engine damage can occur otherwise.
