Remove/install

Remove front right wheel and tire assembly.

Remove front section of the front right fender liner.

Slacken off poly-V-belt and remove from the vibration damper (1).

Install retaining lock for crankshaft / starter ring gear.

Remove center screw (2).

 Installation: Install new central bolt (2).

 Center bolt, belt pulley to crankshaft

Release vibration damper (1) from the crankshaft and remove.

 Installation: Position vibration damper (1) on the crankshaft.
Use turning motions to ensure that the feather key of the crankshaft (arrow B) engages in the groove (arrow A) on the vibration damper (1).



Check

Check contact surface of the radial shaft sealing ring (3) on the vibration damper (1) for scoring and galling.

If problems exist,



replace vibration damper (1).

Check radial shaft sealing ring (3) for leaks.

If problems exist,



Install a new radial shaft sealing ring (3).

Install in the reverse order.



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
