Disconnect electric cables at battery.

Remove poly V-belt of coolant pump and generator

Unscrew bolts (7) and take off the housing cover (8)

Installation: Oil contact surface on crankshaft with engine oil. Fix the housing cover (8) at the crankcase with dowel pins (10).

Remove the seal (9) from the crankcase

Installation: Clean the sealing surfaces and use a new seal. If both ends of the seal (arrow) project, they must be cut off exactly after fitting the housing cover (8).

Check the crankshaft tread for wear and galling

If the tread of the crankshaft or of the race is worn:

Replace race.

Remove radial shaft sealing ring (6) with drift from housing cover (8) end cover (8)

Remove the radial shaft sealing ring only if the race was replaced in step 9.

Installation: Place the end cover housing cover (8) on an even base. Use a new radial shaft sealing ring with a spring expander. Use a drift and drive the radial shaft sealing ring into the end cover housing cover (8) dry and flush with the base.
