| Removing | ||
1 | Remove cylinder head (1)
2 | Remove nozzle holder combination
3 | Clean cylinder head (1)
| Checking | ||
4 | Measure height (H) of cylinder head (1) | If the permissible dimension is not reached then the cylinder head (1) must be replaced.
Height of the cylinder head (1)
5 | Inspect sealing surface of cylinder head (1) for porous or damaged points | If there are porous or damaged locations, face-grind cylinder head separating surface.
6 | Inspect flatness of cylinder head (1) | Straightedge
Permissible variation in flatness of lower separating surface in a longitudinal direction
Machining | |||
7 | Remove intake valves (2) and exhaust valve (3) | Mark intake valves (2) and exhaust valve (3) relative to installation location.
8 | Remove constant throttle valves (4)
9 | Machine cylinder head contact surface on the combustion chamber side by face grinding it flat | After stock removal the height of the cylinder head (1) must not be less than the permissible height (H) otherwise replace the cylinder head (1).
Height of the cylinder head (1)
10 | Clean cylinder head (1)
| Measure | ||
11 | Insert intake valves (2) and exhaust valve (3) into cylinder head (1) | Observe marking on intake valves (2) and on exhaust valve (3) relative to the installation location.
12 | Measure valve setback to cylinder head contact surface (K) and difference between both inlet valve shaft ends (J) using a dial indicator (5) and dial indicator holder (6) | The valve setback to cylinder head contact surface (K) and the difference between both intake valve shaft ends (J) must lie within the permissible tolerance.
Valve setback to cylinder head contact surface (K)
Permissible difference of intake valves (2) measured between the cylinder head (1) and valve stem end
| |||
| |||
| |||
| |||
If the read off test specifications are outside the permissible tolerance, machine or replace the respective valve seat ring.
| Install | ||
13 | Install constant throttle valves (4)
14 | Install intake valves (2) and exhaust valve (3) | Observe marking on the intake valves (2) and on exhaust valve (3) relative to the installation location. If the valve seat ring was machined or replaced, install new intake valves (2) or exhaust valve (3).
15 | Install nozzle holder combination
16 | Install cylinder head (1) |
