The Heizmatik/Tempmatic system regulates the temperature of the vehicle interior. It is consists of the two part systems, Heizmatik/Tempmatic.
All functions are controlled from the air conditioning pushbutton control unit (A20).
The Heizmatik information is also valid for the Tempmatic.
Heizmatik
This system provides the vehicle with heating and includes the following functions:
- Residual engine heat utilization system:
This function utilizes the engine heat when terminal 15 is switched off. For this purpose the heater blower is switched on at the first setting along with the A/C control auxiliary coolant heater pump.
- Heater booster (codes MQ3, MQ4 and MQ5 only):
This system, which is only provided with diesel engines, supports the heating. This is necessary because the engine, due to its high efficiency, transfers insufficient heat to the coolant.
Tempmatic
Apart from the heating functions, the Tempmatic provides cooling for the vehicle. For this purpose a refrigerant compressor and the associated refrigerant circuit is installed in the vehicle. The system contains various temperature sensors and valves necessary for the temperature control.
Both systems are linked to the CAN bus. The data bus provides them with important messages such as engine rpm, air conditioning shut-off, etc.
