 Warning

Risk of injury caused by body parts being pinched or crushed as cab is tilted

Ensure that no one is within the tilting range of the cab as it is being tilted. Always tilt the cab all the way to the end position and secure with the safety strut.

Remove/install

Move front wheels to straight-ahead position

 The steering wheel must also be in the straight-ahead position.

Detach bellows of steering shaft from steering gear and from cab underfloor

Detach lower universal joint (1.2) of steering shaft (1) from steering gear

 Check marking on primary shaft for assembly slot of lower universal joint (1.2).
If the assembly slot is offset, the lower universal joint (1.2) should be marked accordingly relative to the primary shaft.

 Installation: The contact surface for the bolt and nut on the lower universal joint (1.2) must be free of grease. Note marking or identification.

 Fit bolt/nut, universal/constant velocity joint

If the lower universal joint (1.2) on the primary shaft of the steering gear is corroded.



Separate lower universal joint (1.2).



Remove boot from lower steering shaft (1)

Mark installation position of upper universal joint (1.1)

 To do so, mark , for example, the position of the assembly slot.

Disassemble upper universal joint (1.1) and remove lower steering shaft (1)

 With regard to return shipment or scrapping of removed parts, please observe the information in your warranty system.

 Installation: The contact surface for the bolt and nut on the upper universal joint (1.1) must be free of grease. Note markings and installation position of lower steering shaft (1). The rod (telescopic) must point upwards.

 Fit bolt/nut, universal/constant velocity joint

Remove supporting plate (2) from steering gear

 With regard to return shipment or scrapping of removed parts, please observe the information in your warranty system.

 Installation: Grease the top of the steering gear in the area of the sealing ring. Install new support disk (2).
