Due to recent events we would like to notify you that before installing a clutch plate into a torque converter clutch, the splining on the transmission input shaft and clutch plate hub must have any grease residue removed. Following this the transmission input shaft splining must then be lightly greased (refer to table for repair materials).
The clutch plate hub does not need to have extra grease applied to it as otherwise the excess grease is pushed inwards and it can then come into contact with the lining of the clutch plate.
The torque converter clutch contains a non-nickel plated clutch plate and a non-nickel plated transmission input shaft. The grease on the transmission input shaft splining and clutch plate hub serves to prevent any corrosion while also reducing friction.
