15-545 Installation of new EZL control unit 006 545 52 32 or 006 545 53 32 prior to 09/88

On cars starting 09/88, the EZL control unit sensor connector, contact 4, receives a ground signal via the brown/red cable from the
2 E-E carburetor control unit, contact 15.
On cars prior to 09/88, the brown/red cable coming from sensor connector, contact 4 ends in the wiring harness.
If a modified EZL control unit 006 545 52 32 or 006 545 53 32 is installed in cars manufactured prior to 09/88, the engine wiring harness requires to be modified in accordance with the scope of what is described below, otherwise the incorrect firing point may result in complaints regarding performance.
Scope of work
1 Carefully cut open engine wiring harness to sensor connector of EZL control unit with a knife 10 cm ahead of connector (arrow).

2 Withdraw the brown/red cable at the cut point, route it to ground W3 (ignition coil) and cut to length.
Note
The brown/red cable is connected to contact 4 of the sensor connector and ends loose in the wiring harness.

3. Solder on 6 mm dia. cable shoe and connect to ground point W3.
4. Wind PVC adhesive tape around cable cut to provide a watertight seal.
