Distinguishing Features KAT/RÜF

A. Model designations

Models and components may have different versions, data and operations with their 3- to 6-position designation (e.g. 201 or 201.023). These differences are identified by the following additions:

KAT = Engine with "multifunctional mixture

preparation and ignition system" with

catalytic converter.

Identification: KAT on connector of EZL and of

2 E-E carburetor

Basic versions

Model or component designation

RÜF = Engine with "multifunctional mixture

preparation and ignition system" without

catalytic converter (retrofitted version).

Identification: ECE on connector of EZL and of

2 E-E carburetor

If no additions are given in the designation of models or components, the data in question apply to all the listed models or components.

B. Installation survey

The carburetor engine 102 in the KAT and RÜF versions is fitted with the "multifunctional mixture preparation and ignition system", consisting of the electronically controlled 2 E-E carburetor and the electronic ignition system (EZL).

C. Distinguishing features KAT/RÜF

Catalytic converter car (KAT)

Resistance trimming plug with "KAT" inscription for control unit of electronically controlled carburetor. The lambda control is activated with this resistance trimming plug.

The resistance trimming plug of the ignition system has the inscription "EZL-KAT". It has two positions, which can also be used by the customer.
S = Unleaded premium grade fuel.
N = Unleaded regular grade fuel.

Pre-catalytic converter (firewall) and 3-way catalytic converter with oxygen sensor (floorpan).
(Pre-catalytic converter as from August 1986).

Fuel evaporation control system.

Retrofit car (RÜF)

Resistance trimming plug with inscription "ECE" for control unit of electronic control carburetor.

The resistance trimming plug of the ignition system has the inscription "EZL-ECE". It has two positions which can also be used by the customer.
S = Leaded or unleaded premium grade
fuel.
N = Leaded or unleaded regular grade fuel.

Exhaust system without catalytic converter and oxygen sensor.
