General

In the major assemblies, various types of sensors are installed which are used for recording measurement values and actual values and for controlling the function sequences in the vehicle. These measured and actual values, which can be read out using the diagnostic system and partly via the instrument cluster, are used to evaluate functions and sequences. For the individual major assemblies and systems, measurement tables are available in which conditions can be entered before and after a repair, for example. It is important that all measured values which can be recorded are entered. If problems are encountered when recording measurement values, consult your regional service manager.

Transmission measurement table

The measurement values are combined into function groups here and allow the sequences in the transmission to be clearly recognized. All measurement values are given in counts.

Acquiring the measured values

The measurement values can be read out using the diagnostic system or the display in the driver information system (FIS) in the instrument cluster and with the vehicle stationary, sufficient reservoir pressure (compressed air system filled up to shutoff pressure) and with the engine switched off (for exceptions, see Rotational speeds and Range). For this purpose, it is necessary that all transmission stages are engaged in sequence as per the measurement table and the associated measurement value in each case is entered in the measurement table. The learned values stored in the control unit during the last teach-in process provide a direct comparison with the current actual values.

1 Transmission version or engine model

The transmission designation and consecutive transmission number as well as the engine model designation must be entered here.

2 Speeds

Input speed: When the engine is idling and the vehicle is stationary (no gear engaged) the input speed is recorded by the transmission input rpm sensor (transmission control) (EPS) (B3) on the 1st gear and displayed. Depending on the position of the reversing group, the engine speed is displayed directly (position "forward") or the value reduced by the gear ratio factor for the inverter of the reversing group (approx. 0.81) (position "reverse") is displayed. The engaging and disengaging process can be assessed on the basis of the input speed.

Output speed: The output speed is only displayed when the vehicle is being driven and is dependent on the engine speed and gear. The rpm are recorded by the rotary sensor (transmission control) (EPS) (B57) in the range group.

3 Reversing group

The reversing group has two end positions: "forward" - "reverse" (exception: vehicles with hydrostatic drive). When the hydrostatic drive is switched on, the reversing group moves to the center position. The power flow to the countershaft is interrupted in the process.

4 Gear

To determine the gear measurement values, gears "1" to "4" including the neutral positions must be engaged one after the other.

5 Gate

To obtain the measurement values for the gate, gears "1" or "2" (small gate) and gears "3" or "4" (large gate) must be engaged in sequence.

6 Range

The range group has two end positions. When the vehicle is stationary, only the low-speed range group (gear "1" to "4") can be engaged. On vehicles with working and crawler gear range, it is possible to shift into 5th gear and therefore into the high-speed range group with the vehicle stationary by activating the working or crawler gear range.

If shifting errors in the range group are suspected, the values of the mechanical end stops must also be determined with the gearshift linkage disassembled, and entered in the table. The table must be used when adjusting the range group. The values for symmetrical adjustment of the range groups are determined here (see Testing and repair work, group 26.20).

7 Clutch

When reading out the measurement values on instrument cluster, the diagnostic system must not be connected to the diagnostic connector.

Important: Before filling out the measurement table, compile an initial quick-test report and enclose a printout.

The measurement values for the clutch are to be recorded when the clutch is closed and open. The result of large deviations from the clutch learned values (clutch in intermediate position) is that the transmission can no longer be shifted or it is no longer possible to drive with the hydrostatic drive.

The clutch values must be recorded both in automatic mode (with clutch pedal folded in) and in pedal mode.

8 Gearshift table

All the measurement values determined previously are entered in this table. The measurement values of all transmission stages for each direction of travel and each gear are clearly recognizable. In the event of transmission problems while driving, a comparison of the measurement values determined with the instantaneous actual values by calling up measurement values 11 to 15 can make the problem recognizable.
