Task
The following transmitter key versions are available:
"Standard", with code F8B (2 transmitter keys):
With unidirectional radio signal receiver and 2 transmitter keys (2 buttons).
"Comfort", with code F8F (Convenience central locking system) or with code F8H (2 transmitter keys, extra):
With 2 transmitter keys, with buttons for central locking system (3 buttons).
Standard version (2button transmitter key)
Integrated sliding emergency key
Coin cell
Battery capacity detection, visualization via instrument cluster
Buttons for locking/unlocking the central locking system, range approx. 50 m
The radio remote control works regardless of the direction and does not have to be directly pointed at the vehicle.
Improved ease of service, as an online programming with XENTRY Diagnosis is possible in the vehicle where a key is lost.
Up to 8 transmitter keys can be simultaneously taught in per vehicle.
Comfort version (3button transmitter key)
Integrated sliding emergency key
Coin cell
Battery capacity detection, visualization via instrument cluster
Buttons for locking/unlocking the central locking system, range approx. 50 m
Locking of doors, side windows and sliding sunroof or tilting roof at the press of a button.
The radio remote control works regardless of the direction and does not have to be directly pointed at the vehicle.
Improved ease of service, as an online programming with XENTRY Diagnosis is possible in the vehicle where a transmitter key is lost.
Up to 8 transmitter keys can be simultaneously taught in per vehicle.
Pressing the remote control once unlocks the driver's door, pressing a second time also unlocks the front passenger door.
Via an additional button on the transmitter key, the legally stipulated lighting check can also be simply carried out. The light functions are switched through in sequence.

General
Due to the use of a separate memory cell per transmitter key, up to 8 transmitter keys can be used simultaneously. The electronic ignition lock control unit informs the affected vehicle components as to which transmitter key is involved.
Function
To start the engine, the transmitter key is not inserted rather must solely be located in the vehicle (within a range of max. 2 m to the start/stop button).
If the battery charge status of the transmitter key is critical, this is shown via a warning notice in the instrument cluster. If the battery in the transmitter key should be fully discharged, the transmitter key must be held close to the start/stop button (5 to 6 cm) to start the vehicle. A warning tone is emitted if the transmitter key is removed from the vehicle while the engine is running or the transmitter key battery is empty. If an invalid transmitter key is used, the message "Key not detected" appears in the instrument cluster.
Access authorization code (transmission and reception of high frequency signals)
The transmitter key transmits high-frequency signals to the antenna amplifier (high frequency) when the buttons are pressed. This is connected with the electronic ignition lock control unit.
At the same time, an encrypted data exchange takes place between the transmitter key and electronic ignition lock control unit for the identification of the transmitter key.
Where the data match, the electronic ignition lock control unit transmits locking and unlocking commands via the interior CAN (CAN 2) to the door control module driver (DCMD) (A16) and the door control module passenger (DCMP) (A17).
Drive authorization (transmission and reception of low-frequency signals)
The transmitter key communicates with the electronic ignition lock control unit via the antenna amplifier (high frequency). The antenna (low-frequency) communicates with the transmitter key; a warning notice is output during vehicle operation where the transmitter key is removed.
An encrypted data exchange takes place between the transmitter key and electronic ignition lock control unit for the identification of the transmitter key.
In the case of "Ignition ON", the engine management control unit (MCM) (A4) and transmission control unit (TCM) (A5) independently request an encrypted code from the electronic ignition lock control unit for the identification of the transmitter key.
The electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the encrypted code to the engine management control unit and transmission control unit.
If the data match, circuit 15 R and circuit 15 can be connected and the engine started.
