Function sequence
The LH drive axle position sensor (B24) and the RH drive axle position sensor (B25), as well the front axle position sensor (B27) for full air suspension permanently send the distance between the frame and axle on the level control (CLCS) control unit (A26).
The level control (CLCS) control unit (A26) evaluates the signals from the left drive axle position sensor (B24), right drive axle position sensor (B25) and, with full air suspension, the signals from the front axle position sensor (B27) and initiates an automatic control procedure as soon as there is any deviation from the specified level.
To prevent a control operation when cornering, the level control system control unit (CLCS) (A26) requests the differential speed of the front wheels from the Electronic Brake Control (EBS) control unit (A10b), the 4-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) control unit (A10) (up to 31.01.2017), the anti-lock braking system (ABS) with ESP® control unit (A10d) (up to 31.01.2017) or from the anti-lock braking system (ABS) with ESP® control unit (A10e) (as of 01.02.2017). If the vehicle is not cornering, the level control (CLCS) control unit (A26) actuates the 2-axle vehicle level control valve unit (Y21) at the drive axle and, with full air suspension, the front axle level control valve unit (Y20) according to the deviations in the specified level. The corresponding sleeve air springs (43.01) are aerated or ventilated until the left drive axle position sensor (B24), right drive axle position sensor (B25) and, with full air suspension, the front axle position sensor (B27) signal that the specified level has been reached. The valve units are actuated immediately when the vehicle is at a standstill and - when in driving mode - with a delay of 60 s.
A control operation that was initiated when the vehicle was at standstill will still be completed if the vehicle begins to move.
Every individually initiated control procedure will be interrupted by actuating the service brake.
