Starting function requirements, general points
Engine OFF
Start enable for drive authorization system
Clutch pedal actuated (with manual transmission).
Engaged gear range "P" or "N" (with automatic transmission)
Brake pedal actuated (with automatic transmission and with code FX9 (KEYLESS GO)).
The key is in the vehicle, the key battery is not run-down (with code FX9 (KEYLESS GO)).
Starting, general points
The fuse and relay module control unit (SRM) (N50) actuates and switches off the starter (M1).
The CDI control unit (N3/33) reads in the following signals for starting:
Hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/8)
Rail pressure sensor (B4/14)
Camshaft Hall sensor (B6/23)
Coolant temperature sensor (B11/17)
Accelerator pedal module (B37/4)
Crankshaft Hall sensor (B70/2)
Throttle valve actuator (M16/45) (throttle valve position)
Clutch pedal switch (S40/3)
Ignition lock switch (S2)
KEYLESS-GO (S2/3) start/stop button (with code FX9 (KEYLESS GO))
Instrument cluster (IC) control unit (A1/1) via the central gateway (CGW) (N93) and user interface CAN (CAN HMI)
The CDI control unit (N3/33) actuates the following components to start the engine:
Fuel injectors (Y76)
Quantity control valve (Y94/3)
Fuel system control unit (FSCU) (N118)
Fuel pump with fuel feed module (M3/3) over the FSCU (FSCU) (N118)
Starter (M1) via the fuse and relay module (SRM) control unit (N50)
Start function sequence without code FX9 (KEYLESS GO)
By turning the ignition key in the ignition lock switch (S2) to "Engine start", the ignition lock switch (S2) sends the signal "terminal 50" to the fuse and relay module (SRM) control unit (N50). The fuse and relay module (SRM) control unit (N50) checks the following function requirements:
Clutch pedal actuated (manual transmission).
Selector level in position "P" or "N" (automatic transmission)
If these function requirements are met, the integrated relay starter (N50k1) and the starter (M1) as well as the relay fuel pump (N50k8) are actuated.
The ME-SFI control unit (N3/33) determines the start signal status via the engine speed and battery voltage signals.
The start procedure is interrupted via the Safety Relay Module (SRM) control unit (N50). The starting procedure can only be aborted by switching off the ignition.
Start function sequence with code FX9 (KEYLESS GO)
The CDI control unit CDI (N3/33) detects based on the clutch pedal switch (S40/3) that the clutch petal is actuated completely.
Pressing the KEYLESS-GO start/stop button (S2/3) sends the signal "terminal 50" to the SAM control unit (N10/1) then further on to the fuse and relay module (SRM) control unit (N50). The fuse and relay module (SRM) control unit (N50) checks the following function requirements:
Clutch pedal actuated (manual transmission).
Selector level in position "P" or "N" (automatic transmission)
Brake pedal actuated (automatic transmission).
If these function requirements are met, the integrated relay starter (N50k1) and the starter (M1) as well as the relay fuel pump (N50k8) are actuated.
The start process can be canceled by pressing the KEYLESS-GO start/stop button (S2/3) again.
