Cylinder liner with wiping bulge.
With induction hardening of cylinder liners in the area of the top land zone a deliberately made wiping bulge (clearance dimension: 7.0 mm from upper edge of cylinder liner) and an altered cylinder liner diameter is produced.
This reduces carbon deposits in the top land zone. This allows better exhaust emission values (soot particle, exhaust emissions) to be achieved.
In the case of engines 541.92 up to engine end no. 091057 and 542.92 up to engine end no. 094639 cylinder liners (A) were installed without plunge-cutting at the upper one-pass and without a wiping bulge in the top land zone.
These can be modified to have altered cylinder liners (B) with a shortened upper one-pass, a wiping bulge and an altered cylinder liner diameter in the top land zone.
Cylinder liners with improved arbor-bearing sleeve cooling and wiping bulge.
In the case of engines 541.92 from engine end no. 091058 and 542.92 from engine end no. 094640 an altered crankcase with two additional coolant bores were installed below the cylinder liner collar seat, thus cylinder liners (C) are installed with plunge-cutting at the upper one-pass and without a wiping bulge in the top land zone.
These can be modified to the altered cylinder liners (D) with wiping bulge and altered cylinder liner diameter in the top land zone.
Engine 541.94, 542.94:
Crankcase with altered cylinder liner (D) with plunge-cutting at the upper one-pass, a wiping bulge and altered cylinder liner diameter in the top land zone.
