Removal, installation

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding with hot coolant which splashes out. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.

Relieve pressure in the coolant circuit

 In order to achieve this, turn coolant compensation tank closure cap to locking position 1.

Unclip heater unit cover (5)

Disconnect connection lead from coolant pump (A6m1) with 2-pin coupling

Installation: Coupling is coded.

Disconnect rubberized pipe clamp from bracket (11c)

 Coolant pump (A6m1) is now only connected to the coolant hoses (4, 4a).

Disconnect coolant supply hose (4) and coolant return hose (3)



Disconnect coolant pump (A6m1) from the coolant hoses (4, 4a)

 Collect escaping coolant and return to coolant compensation tank following installation.

 

Disassembling, assembling

Replace pump cover of the coolant pump (A6m1) which is to be installed with a pump cover (23) with a 193° offset intake connection

 Ensure that the gasket (q) is seated correctly.

Install in the reverse order

Following installation, bleed the coolant circuit

Testing

Danger!

Risk of explosion from fuel vapors, risk of poisoning from inhaling combustion gases and risk of injury from burns during and after operation of heater unit.

Do not operate stationary heater, auxiliary heater or engine with heater booster in closed areas or when refueling. Allow heater unit to cool down after operation and wear protective gloves.

Start up stationary heater

 If the heater (A6) independently switches off before reaching its operating temperature and cannot be re-started, a malfunction blockage is present (continue with ).
