Remove/install coolant circulation pump

Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Release pressure in coolant circuit

 For this purpose turn coolant expansion reservoir cap to catch position 1.

Unclip heater unit cover (5)

Unplug circulation pump connector (8)

 Installation: coupling is coded.

Loosen fastening (17) and unhook circulation pump bracket (13)



 Installation: First hook in circulation pump bracket (13).

Pinch off coolant feed line (4)



Disconnect circulation pump (A6m1) from coolant lines (4)

 Collect escaping coolant and refill into coolant expansion reservoir after installation.

Install in the reverse order

Bleed coolant circuit after installing heater unit

Inspecting cooling system for leaks

Do not operate stationary heater, auxiliary heater or engine with heater booster in closed areas or when refueling. Allow heater unit to cool down after operation and wear protective gloves.

Activate stationary heater

If the heater (A6) switches itself off before reaching its operating temperature and cannot be restarted, a fault interlock is present: 
