Notes on repairing the stationary heater

 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Release pressure in coolant circuit

 To do so, turn cap of coolant expansion reservoir to detent position 1.

Clamp off coolant feed hose (4) and coolant outlet hose (3)

Release exhaust gas line (14) between stationary heater (A6) and exhaust muffler (21) from exhaust muffler (21) and detach

 Accessible from underside of engine.

Disconnect fuel line from stationary heater (A6)

 Collect escaping fuel.

Unclip water separator (12b) from holder (12a) and remove from combustion air intake hose (12)

 The combustion air intake hose (12) remains on the stationary heater (A6).

 Installation: The water separator (12b) may only be installed vertically.

Disconnect coolant outlet hose (3) from stationary heater (A6) and coolant feed hose (4) from circulation pump (A6m1)

 Mark coolant hoses for installation. Collect escaping coolant in a clean vessel and, after installation, pour back into coolant expansion reservoir.

Loosen mount (6) on bulkhead

 2 nuts at top of bulkhead, 1 nut at bottom right on heater.

Guide stationary heater (A6) out in upward direction and, when doing so, detach coupling (9) and coupling (10) of electrical connection lines

 

Disassemble/assemble

Unscrew holder (11)

 Bolt, bracket to heater

Release pipe clamps (16) from stationary heater (A6) and detach exhaust gas line (14)

Disconnect combustion air intake hose (12) from stationary heater (A6)

Unscrew circulation pump (A6m1) from stationary heater (A6)

Install in the reverse order

 Danger

Risk of explosion caused by fuel vapors igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling combustible gases and risk of injury caused by burns during and after operation of heater unit

Do not operate stationary heater, auxiliary heater or engine with heater booster in closed rooms or when refueling. Allow heater unit to cool down after operation and wear protective gloves.
