Danger! | Risk of explosion from fuel vapors, risk of poisoning from inhaling combustion gases and risk of injury from burns during and after operation of heater unit | Do not operate stationary heater, auxiliary heater or engine with heater booster in closed areas or while filling fuel tank. Allow heater unit to cool down after operation and wear protective gloves. | |
1.1 | Remove inlet port shutoff solenoid valve (Y88) from circulation pump bracket (M51) and place to one side | For the inlet port shutoff the solenoid valve bracket is to be screwed on together with the circulation pump bracket. | |
2 | Pinch off coolant hoses (1, 5) | | |
3 | Disconnect electrical connector (3) from circulation pump (M51) | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Only open cooling system at coolant temperatures below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection. | |
4 | Disconnect coolant hoses (1, 5) from circulation pump connecting pipes | Collect escaping coolant in a clean vessel. Installation: pour any escaped coolant back into coolant and heater circuit after installation of the circulation pump. | |
5 | Undo nuts (4) on bracket (2) | ||
6 | Remove circulation pump (M51) with bracket (2) from firewall | Installation: For the inlet port shutoff the solenoid valve bracket is to be screwed on together with the coolant circulation pump bracket. | |
8 | Install in the reverse order | ||
Danger! | Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury as working around the engine during startup or while running may result in contusions and burns | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving off by itself. | |
9 | Start engine and bleed cooling and heating system. | Allow engine to warm up for approx. | |
10 | Switch off engine | ||
11 | Check coolant and top up if necessary | ||
12 | Check coolant hoses on circulation pump for signs of leaks | ||
13 | Check auxiliary heater/heater booster for proper operation |
