Remove and install refrigerant compressor

Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of explosion from welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning. Inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors may be toxic. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with liquid refrigerant.

Do not carry out any welding work on the closed air conditioning system or in the surrounding area. No smoking or open flames. Wear eye protection and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been discharged.

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.

Remove upper frame cross member

Separate all hoses/lines between charge air cooler (1) and engine

 Hoses/lines remain attached to charge air cooler.

Separate all hoses/lines/plug connections from radiator (2) and from condenser (3)

 Hoses/lines remain attached to engine

Disconnect power supply (4) and connector (5) from electric suction fan engine and AC with integrated control (M4/7)

Separate coolant hose (6) of low-temperature cooler at engine side

 Coolant hose remains attached to low-temperature cooler (7).

Lift radiator assembly up and out

 The radiator assembly comprises the charge air cooler (1), the radiator (2), the condenser (3) and the electric suction fan engine and AC with integrated control (M4/7).

Remove poly V-belt (8)

 Installation: Ensure proper routing of the poly-V-belt.

Remove left front fender liner

Remove shield (9) in the left wheelhouse

Detach fresh air piping (10) from the left front turbocharger

Detach refrigerant lines (11) from the refrigerant compressor (A9)

 Installation: Install new sealing rings and before installation moisten with compressor oil.



Disconnect connector (12) from refrigerant compressor (A9)

Unscrew screws (13) of refrigerant compressor (A9) to the engine

 Secure air conditioner compressor from falling out.



Remove refrigerant compressor (A9)



Install in the reverse order

Install new fluid reservoir

 The fluid reservoir must be replaced every time the refrigerant compressor is removed.
