Do not connect no-load current retention unit

 Danger

Risk of fire/risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC.

No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Remove holder for navigation processor

Only vehicles with code 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))

Remove/install CD player with changer

 Remove only the holder of the navigation processor; do not remove the navigation processor from the holder.
CD changer and navigation processor have a common holder.

Remove screws (2) of holder (6).

Only on vehicles except code 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)) except code 819 (CD changer)

Remove nuts (16, 17) of holder (6).

 On model 215, the holder (6) is secured with a screw and the nut (17), instead of with the nut (16).

Remove holder (6) with audio gateway control unit (N93/1) and sound amplifier (A2/13) (on vehicles with sound system (code 810)) from wheel well


Do not kink or stretch fiber-optic cable,
Routing radii must be greater than 25 mm! The series production wiring harness (23) must not be damaged.

Detach black antenna plug (8) and yellow antenna plug (9) at rear end of audio gateway control unit (N93/1)

Detach MOST optical connector (10) at rear end of audio gateway control unit (N93/1)

Detach black, 4-pin connector (11) at front end of audio gateway control unit (N93/1)

Detach black, 14-pin connector (12a) at front end of audio gateway control unit (N93/1)

Only on vehicles except code 810 (Premium sound system)

Unscrew the two collar nuts (22) (enlarged details)

Slide audio gateway control unit (N93/1) forward out of holder (6) in direction of arrow


On model 215 with sound amplifier (A2/13), with code 810 (Premium sound system).
Do not damage series production wiring harness (23).

Install in the reverse order


