Danger! | Risk of injury caused by performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units. | Store airbag units with deployment side facing up; do not expose to temperatures greater than 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply. | |
Danger! | Risk of injury due to hands being crushed when window glass is not secure | Secure window to prevent it from falling down. | |
1 | Remove door liner (1) from rear door | Do not yet disconnect power window connector from power window motor | |
2 | Remove rubber plug (2) | ||
3 | Switch on ignition | ||
4 | Move crank window (4) up to 80 mm below window frame (A), remove power window connector from power window motor and lay door lining (1) down to side. | Treat ribbon cables carefully to prevent damage. | |
The bolt (3) should be accessible | |||
5 | Switch off ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS [EZS] control unit | On vehicles with Keyless Go, code 889: Press Keyless Go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off. Remove transmitter key from vehicle and store it in a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 m). | |
6 | Disconnect battery ground line | ||
7 | Remove bolt (3) until crank window (4) is loose | | |
8 | Manually slide crank window (4) upward to stop and secure on window frame with textile tape at least one point | Clamping pliers approved by Mercedes-Benz can also be used as an alternative to adhesive tape | |
The crank window should be free of dirt and dust. | |||
Cover window frame with rag to prevent glue residues on paint | |||
9 | Remove outside door handle on rear door | ||
10 | Remove bolts (5) until door lock can be moved back and forth | ||
11 | Open driver or passenger door, release clamp (7) with suitable tool and open, disconnect door separation point connector (6). | ||
12 | Remove bolts (8), loosen connector (9) from retaining tabs at top and bottom and allow connector (9) to fall into door toward inside | ||
13 | Remove bolts (10, 11) | ||
14 | Remove door module (14) from rear door until retaining tab (12) is accessible | ||
15 | Loosen retaining tab (12) and remove wiring (13) toward outside | ||
16 | Remove door module (14) | Remove bolts (5) by moving door module (14) toward front of vehicle. | |
17 | Install in the reverse order |
