Remove/install

Disconnect battery ground line

Open maintenance flap

Remove front bumper

Remove oil dip stick pipe and filler neck fro charge air cooler

 To provide sufficient gap for removal and insertion device.

Loosen boots from steering gear and push upward

Check whether marking on primary shaft on steering gear and assembly slot of universal joint are flush

If the assembly slot has moved.



Mark installation position of universal joint relative to primary shaft.

Remove universal joint on lower steering shaft from steering gear

 Installation: The contact surface for the bolt and nut on the universal joint must be free of grease. Note marking or identification.

 Fit bolt/nut, universal/constant velocity joint

Remove electrical wiring harness (7) from cab

Remove compressed air lines (5) from cab

Remove upper bearing from tilt cylinder

Remove shock absorber (1)

 Nut, shock absorber to front cab mounting

Adjust jib length of cab assembly cradle to fit the roof height



Attach crane or forklift hook to assembly cradle



 Lift assembly cradle slightly with crane and take off casters.

Open door

Position assembly cradle at front in door cutouts and raise cab until bearing pins (3) are free of tension



 Position mountings of assembly cradles as far forward as possible.

Remove bearing pin (3)

Lift cab until removal and pull-in tool (8) can be positioned at bushings (9)

 Ensure that there is sufficient distance between firewall cutout bottom edge and coolant filler neck (6).
