Danger!

Risk of injury. Injuries may result when performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units.

Store airbag unit with expulsion area on top, do not subject to temperatures above 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply.

Disconnect ground line from the battery and remove ignition key

Remove central electric unit

Do not disconnect lines.

Remove steering wheel

Except code SA5, driver's airbag.

Detach contact spiral from steering column

With code SA5, driver's airbag or code BB3, electronic stability program (ESP).

Put clock spring contact to one side.

Remove steering angle sensor

with code BB3, electronic stability
program (ESP).

Installation: The installation position of the steering angle sensor must be noted. The locking lug of the steering angle sensor must seat in the steering column groove.

Unscrew bolts (1) and take off cover (2) of combination switch (3)

Unscrew bolts (4) and remove combination switch (3) from steering column

Install in the reverse order
