 Warning

Risk of burn injuries, suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area.

Remove/install

Remove center and front bottom engine compartment lining.

 Installation: Install center and front bottom engine compartment lining only after the leak check.

Remove screws of the bracket from the left catalytic converter (10) at the transmission.

If installed.

 Bolt, front exhaust line to bracket

Remove left lambda sensors (6, 7) and right lambda sensors (4, 5).

Remove left gasoline particulate filter differential pressure sensor and right gasoline particulate filter differential pressure sensor and place to one side with the connected pressure hoses.

Remove bracket (8) upward.

 Screw/bolt, butterfly bracket to catalytic converter

Secure right catalytic converter (9) and left catalytic converter (10) against falling down.

Remove clamps (3).

 Installation: Align clamps (3) between the exhaust gas turbochargers, right catalytic converter (9), and left catalytic converter (10).

 Clamp, front exhaust system to turbocharger

Check design of the clamps (3) between the exhaust gas turbochargers and catalytic converters (9, 10).

If a one-piece clamp (3) is installed,



Replace clamp (3).

If a two-piece clamp (3) is installed,



Replace nuts and bolts.

Remove differential pressure lines from the right and left gasoline particulate filter and place to one side.

Remove drive shaft with drive shaft housing.

Remove heat plate from bulkhead downward.

Remove right catalytic converter (9) and left catalytic converter (10) downward.

Install in the reverse order.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check leak tightness of the exhaust system.

Install the center and front lower engine compartment paneling.
