| Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts | ||
| When working on exhaust system, connecting points have to be cleaned from combustion and corrosion residues before the installation of parts. Install new sealing ring (6) as well as bolts and nuts | ||
1 | Remove nuts as well as bolts (2) from flange connection | Installation: Ensure that sealing ring (6) and flange (8) are seated correctly. | |

2 | Release clamp (3) | Slide released hose clamp toward front onto left catalytic converter. Replace defective or corroded hose clamp. | |

3 | Support exhaust system under the center muffler (1) | Use a suitable transmission jack. | |
4 | Unscrew bolts (9) from center exhaust rubber mount (4) | | |
5 | Loosen hose clamps (5) | Slide released hose clamp towards rear onto the left rear muffler or the right rear muffler. Replace defective or corroded hose clamps. | |

6 | Remove center muffler (1) | Slide center muffler towards rear until the center muffler detaches from the pipe of the right catalytic converter (7). Then remove it downwards. | |
Do not damage any surrounding components. | |||
Installation: Ensure that installation position of sealing ring (6) and flange (8) is correct. The chamfer of the sealing ring as well as shoulder on the flange are pointing in the direction of the center muffler. Slide both parts onto right catalytic converter before center muffler is positioned. | |||

7 | Check center exhaust rubber mount (4), hose clamp (3), hose clamps (5) as well as flange (8) | Check for damage and wear; replace if necessary. | |
8 | Install in the reverse order | ||

9 | Check installation position and for unobstructed movement of entire exhaust system | The exhaust system must be mounted free of tension, align exhaust system if required. | |
