Position front wheels on turnplates

 The front axle must be loaded with the vehicle weight.

Position front wheels in the straightahead driving position

Check steering stop bolts on the steering knuckle and adjust if necessary

 It must be ensured that the steering angle is limited by the steering stop bolts and not be the steering gear (3). The drag link (8) and all the tie rods must be installed and correctly adjusted. The distance between the steering knuckle and the bottom edge of the bolt head of the steering stop bolt must be at least 16 mm.

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Start engine and allow to idle

Turn the steering wheel clockwise as far as the steering stop

 It must be possible to turn the steering wheel without much force.

Continue turning the steering wheel briefly (maximum 5 seconds) until a firm steering stop is reached

 When turning the steering wheel up to a firm steering stop the return force of the steering valve is overcome.

Read off oil pressure on the tester

 If the hydraulic steering limiter is detected before the manual steering stop, the steering mechanism is to be checked for adjustments and damage before adjusting the hydraulic steering limiter.

Repeat steps 6 to 8 for the counterclockwise steering angle

Replace adjusting bolts with moving bush (10)

 Only required, if the oil pressure has not been reduced to the specified value. Before carrying out the work step the engine should be switched off and the front wheels moved into the straightahead driving position.



Adjusting steering limiter

 Only required if the adjusting bolts with moving bush (10) are replaced.

To do this, the front wheels must be forced to the maximum right and left wheel locks.

After replacing the adjusting bolts with moving bush (10) the steering wheel can, both with or without hydraulic assistance, only be turned with increased effort in the process. The moving bushes on the adjusting bolts with moving bush (10) are automatically pushed into the respective switch-off position in the process.

Check pressure on limiter

 For this purpose repeat steps 5 to 9.

Detach tester

Drive vehicle off the turnplates

 The vehicle may only be driven down off turnplates secured as per the manufacturer's specifications.
