Before getting started with the work in the hydraulic system, depressurize the system. Use protective clothing and goggles.

Remove the plug (1) with sealing ring (2)

Install the pressure gauge (3), the adapter (4), the hose (5) and the connection piece (6)

Lift the vehicle by the front axle and lean it on safety stands

Loose the jam nuts of the limit adjustment screws (7, 8)

Tighten the limit adjustment screws (7, 8)

The jam nuts must touch the heads of the limit adjustment screws (7, 8) and the steering box.

Loose the limit adjustment screws (7, 8) and screw and tighten the jam nuts

When the engine is running, the limit adjustment screws (7, 8) must not be tightened more times than what is prescribed below.

Steering box 765.82:

 6 turns in the limit adjustment screw (7) for the left stop.

 11 turns in the limit adjustment screw (8) for the right stop.

Steering box 765.83:

 6 turns in the two limit adjustment screws (7, 8) for the left and right stop.



Start the engine and run it at idling speed

Until the oil temperature in the steering system reaches about 50 ºC.

Turn the steering wheel to the left until the mechanical stop

It is necessary to pull against the mechanical stop (maximum time 5 s). Otherwise, the steering system can be damaged.

With this steering wheel position, read the pressure in the pressure gauge (3) and write it down

Follow the same procedure to the right and write down the number

Turn off the engine

Compare the written pressure with the nominal steering pressure prescribed

In case the pressure you wrote down does not correspond to the prescribed nominal steering pressure, the pressure relief valve must be replaced.

After the replacement of the pressure relief valve (9), follow the steps 7 to 11. If the prescribed nominal pressure is not reached:



Check the pressure of the hydraulic power steering pump.

If the pressure and the hydraulic pump delivery are in order, the steering box must be removed:

Adjust the hydraulic limit

Remove the pressure gauge (3), the adapter (4), the hose (5) and the connection piece (6)

Tighten the screw plug (1)

Replace the sealing ring (2).


