Remove/install four-circuit protection valve

Remove/install

Secure vehicle against rolling

Depressurize air brake system

 Pull vent valve on compressed-air reservoir.

Clean connections of compressed-air lines
(2, 7, 8, 11)

Mark compressed-air lines (2, 7, 8, 11)

Disconnect compressed-air lines (2, 7, 8, 11) from four-circuit protection valve (1)

 Installation:
Fit the compressed air lines (2, 7, 8, 11) to match the markings.

Replace seal rings (3, 5, 10, 13).



Seal off compressed-air lines (2, 7, 8, 11)

 To prevent dirt ingress.

Detach four-circuit protection valve (1) from compressed-air reservoir

 Installation: Install new sealing ring (14).



Seal off compressed-air reservoir

 To prevent dirt ingress.

Install in the reverse order

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Fill air brake system with compressed air

 Allow the engine to run until the operating pressure is reached.

If the pressure regulator fails to stop filling the air brake system after reaching the operating pressure: 

Check shutoff pressure of pressure regulator, adjust if necessary.

Check operating pressures on 4-circuit protection valve (1), adjust if necessary

 If the operating pressures are still not OK after the adjustment process, the 4-circuit protection valve must be removed again, and repaired before being re-installed: 

Disassemble/assemble 4-circuit protection valve.
