Risk of fire/risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC.

No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Disconnect ground line from battery

With code E36 (Battery cutoff relay with auxiliary battery)

Remove cover (5) below driver seat

Unscrew holder for control units (7) and place to one side with control units

Remove screws (3)

Installation: Use new bolts.

Remove sensor cover (6)

Press electrical connector (2) together at side and detach from yaw rate and lateral acceleration sensor (B144)

Remove yaw rate and lateral acceleration sensor (B144)


The yaw rate and lateral acceleration sensor (B144)

is highly sensitive to shocks.

Observe installation position (arrow on control unit points in direction of travel).

Install in the reverse order
