Removing, installing

Remove propeller shaft

Vehicles with 5-speed manual and automatic transmission

Label front and rear propeller shaft (12), and if necessary also vibration damper (20) in relation to three-arm flange and remove

Installation: Check flexible coupling for damage, replace if necessary.

 Replace self-locking nuts.

 Flexible coupling to front propeller shaft.

Release guide sleeves in flexible couplings.

Remove front and rear flexible coupling (12)

Remove vibration damper (20) from front and rear propeller shaft

Front vibration damper: Model 210.003/004/010/015/017/035/037,

210.045/061/063/210/215/217/235,

210.237/245

210.261 except with automatic transmission

Rear vibration damper: Model 210.216

Installation: Install vibration damper and propeller shaft according to labeling

Separate front section of propeller shaft from rear section at the slide connection

Installation: Coat shaft splines with Molykote
grease: 



Long-life grease (NLGI grade 2)

Connect sections of propeller shaft

Inspecting

Check centering sleeves (10) in the front and rear propeller shaft sections

 If sealing lip in centering sleeve (10) is worn or damaged, the centering sleeve can be replaced separately.

Remove centering sleeve (10)

 If necessary after testing.

Fill recesses in both centering sleeves with grease


