 Installation

Replace self-locking nuts and bolts

Unhook or unscrew suspension (105g, 105h) on center or- rear muffler of exhaust system (105)

 Lower and support exhaust system on rear muffler

Detach exhaust shielding plate (105c) in tunnel area

Detach reinforcement brace (34)



Disassemble mounting frame bow (127) for seat belt mounting

Detach front propeller shaft (1a) on transmission

 The Hardy coupling remains with the driveshaft.



Detach rear propellor shaft (2) from rear differential assembly

 The Hardy coupling remains with the driveshaft.

Release fitting sleeves on flex disks

Remove bolts (7a) of propeller shaft center support bearing

 Support propeller shaft

 Installation: Only tighten bolts (7a) after attaching the flexible coupling to transmission and rear axle differential



Remove shims on front and rear propeller shaft center support bearing

Pull off propeller shaft from centering spigot on transmission and rear axle and take out backwards

 Installation:  Pack cavities of the two centering sleeves with multipurpose grease

Separate front and rear propeller shaft at slide connection if necessary

 Installation: Coat splined profile with Molykote grease: 



Long-life grease (NLGI grade 2)

Connect sections of propeller shaft

 Installation: On model 210.010 with 4-speed automatic transmission 722.4 except with code 450 Taxi-version (up to 30.6.96) for logistical reasons for the replacement part requirement only a front propeller shaft hole circle- 90mm (formerly 80mm) is available. Therefore the three arm flange on the transmission should be replaced at the same time

Checking

Check flexible couplings, vibration damper, centering sleeve and propeller shaft center support bearing for wear

Replace if necessary:

Remove/install propeller shaft intermediate bearing and replace grooved ball bearing
