Place the dial indicator support (11) with the dial indicator (10) on the flat surface of the differential set case (1)

 The dial indicator (10) must be in the vertical position with your tip supported on the flank of a tooth in the toothed crown with a pre-load of approx. 2 mm.

Turn the differential assembly a few times and measure the gap between the teeth of the toothed crown and the pinion in at least three different points displaced by 120 °

 Determine the lowest play point between the measured points.

Block the pinion at the lowest clearance point between the teeth in the differential assembly and adjust the clearance moving axially the differential assembly through the threaded rings (2, ) until obtaining the lowest prescribed clearance

Tighten the screws (9) of the bearing cap with the specified torque in the (1st stage)

Loosen the threaded rings to relieve the load on the tapered roller bearings (4), then press them again

 Lightly press the threaded rings (2) to avoid load on the tapered roller bearings (4).

Determine the differential assembly mounting measure.

Adjust the pre-load of the tapered roller bearings (4)

Tighten the screws (9) of the bearing cap with the specified torque in the (2nd stage)

 If not already fitted.

Install the safety lock (5) and tighten the screw (6) of the threaded rings (2)

Check

Turn the differential assembly a few times and recheck the gap between the flanks of the tooth of the sprocket and the pinion

 If the nominal value has not been reached, repeat the operations from the step 2 on.

Check the contact marks between the sprocket and the pinion
