Remove collared nut (12) from rear axle shaft (37)

 Apply parking brake.



Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary

Pull rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle shaft flange

 Do not damage rubber boot and rotor of rpm sensor wheel hub, otherwise electronic traction system (ETS) could fail.

 Compress rear axle shaft as far as the stop in the direction of the rear axle center assembly. Swing wheel carrier towards the front.

If the rear axle shaft is difficult to remove: 

Push rear axle shaft out of rear axle shaft flange.

Fasten rear axle shaft (37) with wire (arrows)

Remove supporting joint (7a) from lower wishbone.

 Support wheel carrier and secure it to prevent it from falling down. If necessary, counterhold ball head with Torx bit.



Install in the reverse order

 After installation of new parts.
