Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.

When working on the front-end assembly, be careful not to scratch, mark or notch the surfaces of aluminum parts. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be affected

 Installation

Only tighten nuts and bolts of chassis components when vehicle is in a ready-to-drive condition.

Remove left front rpm sensor (L6/1) or right front rpm sensor (L6/2) from steering knuckle (5) and hang up to one side

 To do so, remove bolt (2) and unclip electrical feed line from retaining clip on steering knuckle (5).

 Installation: Observe correct installed position. The scuff protection (3) must be bolted to the front rpm sensor as illustrated. It must not be mounted between the rpm sensor and steering knuckle (5).



Detach suspension strut (40) from spring control arm (17)

Remove link rod (78k) of stabilizer bar from stabilizer bar pivot bushing (10b)

 Check rubber boot of stabilizer bar pivot bushing (10b) in spring control arm (17) for signs of damage and replace stabilizer bar pivot bushing (10b) if necessary:



Fit new stabilizer bar pivot bushing.

Detach spring control arm (17) from front-axle carrier (1)

 Bolt (17a) must not be twisted. Make sure to counterhold bolt (17a) when slackening the nut. Otherwise the locating tabs for camber adjustment in the rubber mount will be sheared off if the repair kit is installed.



Check rubber bushing (17d) of spring control arm (17) for signs of damage

Replace rubber bushing (17d) if necessary:



Replace rubber bearing on spring control arm.

Check rubber bushing (40a) in spring control arm (17) for signs of damage

Replace rubber bushing (40a) if necessary:

Check stabilizer bar pivot bushing (10b) in spring control arm (17) for signs of damage

If necessary: 

Fit new stabilizer bar pivot bushing.

Check supporting joint (7) in steering knuckle (5) for signs of damage

 Do not replace steering knuckle (5).
