 Danger!

Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.

Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts

Disconnect connectors of wheel speed sensors (1)

Disconnect connector of brake wear indicator (2)

Separate brake hoses (3) from brake lines (4)

 Seal brake hoses (3) and brake lines (4).

Pull out locking plate (5) of brake hoses (3) and remove brake hoses (3) from bracket

Detach compressed air lines (6) from frame transverse pipe

Remove bolt (7) of shock absorber (8)



Remove bolt (9) from stabilizer link bracket (10) on axle side



Detach drag link (11) from steering knuckle arm (12) and secure above

Remove transverse control arm (13) on the frame side



Place jack stand under torque tube (14)

Remove bolts (15) of torque tube (14) from front axle output shaft

 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces and use sealing compound.



Using chain hoist, pull front axle slightly away from transfer case

 In order to gain access to the bolts (16) of the propeller shaft (17).

Remove bolts (16) of propeller shaft (17)

 Do not let the propeller shaft (17) hang down, secure it instead, as the brake lines are overtensioned and are damaged as a result.



 Installation: Before installing the propeller shaft (17) on the output flange, the torque ball of the torque tube (14) must be adjusted: 

Adjust preload of torque tube to torque ball housing

Using a hoist system, raise vehicle slightly at front plate and roll out front axle toward front

 With the aid of a second fitter.

Put down vehicle on support stands under frame

Install in the reverse order

Check compressed air lines (6) for leaks

Check function of differential lock

Check oil level and correct if necessary


