Press level control switch (S77/1) into the "Lock" position

 ADS suspension warning lamp (A1e27) lights up

Raise vehicle

 The engine must be switched off.



Only when "Remove/install valve unit", empty/fill the pressurized oil system at the front or rear axle.

Otherwise, depending on the scope of work, only empty/fill the pressurized oil system on the front or rear axle.

Front axle:

Connect oil drain hose (061) to oil drain screw (56a) on distributor fitting (56)

Bottom engine cover taken off

Rear axle :

Connect oil drain hose (061) to oil drain screw (57a) on distributor fitting (57)

Cover in area of fuel pump assembly/rear axle removed

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid

Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.

Open oil drain screw (56a or 57a) slowly, collect oil in a clean vessel

The oil which has been collected can be reused.

Close oil drain screw (56a or 57a) again



Filling

Lower vehicle or the vehicle must stand on its wheels

 On front axle: Position wheels straightahead

Pour oil into the oil reservoir (2)

 Only reuse clean oil

The ignition must have been switched off for at least 60 seconds

Otherwise fault display in ADS [adaptive damping system]

Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine, allow to run for approx. 2 minutes at moderate speed

The system bleeds itself automatically.
 Ensure that there is sufficient oil in the oil reservoir. The pump must never draw in air under any circumstances.

Level control switch (S77/1), switch off in "Blocking" position

 (A1e27) ADS warning lamp goes out.

 Should the filling operation take longer than 5 minutes, the control unit switches off the valves for 5 minutes (overload protection).

Turn off engine

Check/correct oil level in oil reservoir



The level control switch (S77/1) is in the "Normal level" position (indicator in switch: OFF).

Oil level between "min" and "max" markings.

The vehicle must be unladen.

Conduct a road test

To bleed the hydraulic system completely after finishing the filling operation a test drive should be carried out on rough terrain. In the process carry out level adjustment High level stage 1 and High level stage 2. Afterwards carry out oil level check again at "Normal level".
