Adjusting sleeve
1 | Place the compensating washer (5) on the tapered roller bearing. |
The compensating washer (5) is only installed in tapered roller bearings without collar. |
2 | Use the adjustment sleeve (3) to pretension the tapered roller bearing. Turn the constant gear 2 (6) several times. |
The tapered roller bearing are sufficiently pretensioned, when the constant gear 2 (6) is difficult to be turned. |
3 | Release the adjustment sleeve (3) a little. |
4 | At the same time, turn the constant gear 2 (6) several times. |
Apply blows with a rubber hammer to relief the tensions. |
5 | Manually tighten the adjustment sleeve (3) again. |

6 | Install the dial indicator (1) on the adjustment jig (2). |
If the dial gauge rod (1) is too short: | |
| |
Use an extension rod. |
7 | Install the adjustment jig (2) in the adjustment sleeve (3). |
8 | Measure with the dial indicator (1) in the mains shaft collar (4). |
9 | Adjust the dial indicator (1) to zero. |
10 | Measure with the dial indicator (1) on the tapered roller bearing collar (5) of the constant gear 2 (6), measurement "A". |
11 | Calculate the thickness of the compensating washer to be installed. |
Measurement "A" – 0,20 mm = thickness of the compensating washer to be installed. |

12 | Adjust the axial play by pulling the constant gear 2 (6). |
Use an appropriate extractor. |
13 | Fit the compensating washer determined (8) and the pressure washer (7) in the axle collar. |
14 | Fit the adjustment sleeve (3) and tighten until the pressure washer (7) compresses the tapered roller bearing back to its position. |
15 | Install the dial indicator (1) on the adjustment jig (2). |
16 | Place the adjustment jig (2) in the adjustment sleeve (3). |
17 | Position the dial indicator (1) in the machined surface of the constant gear 2 (6), and rotate the constant gear 2 (6) approx. 20 times. |
18 | Adjust the dial indicator (1) to zero. |
W26.50-1099-02
19 | Turn the constant gearwheel 2 (6) to the right and left and simultaneously compress upward and downward (arrows), performing the reading of the bearing play in the dial indicator (1). |
The constant gear 2 (6) must not be forced up or downward with a screwdriver or lever: |
In case of discrepancies: |
|
Compensate with a corresponding compensating washer (8) and repeat the calculation process. |
The purpose is to obtain an axial play near the limit tolerance. |
