Danger! | Risk of personal and material damages when tilting and returning the vehicle cab. | Be sure the cab tilting and returning area is clear of objects and people. Tilt the cab to its final position. Return the cab to its correct latching in the operating position.
1 | Cab tilting. | ||
Danger! | Risk of burns due to high coolant temperature. | Relieve the system's pressure beforehand, carefully opening the compensation reservoir cap to its first notch. Do not remove the cap, if engine temperature is above 90 °C. Utilize the required EPI’s.
2 | Partially draining the cooling system. | Drain down to, approximately, the height of the thermostats. Collect the coolant, replace it if necessary.
| Indications on coolant. | ||
3 | Turn-off the master switch, or disconnect the battery negative lead.
4 | Remove the deaeration hoses (6) and of the space heating system (8).
5 | Remove the upper radiator hose (7).
6 | Remove the bolts (3) attaching the fan (1) to the viscous coupling (2). | Before removing the bolts (3), mark the relative assembly position between the fan (1) and the viscous coupling (2). The fan (1) has to be installed on the viscous coupling (2), observing the marking made at disassembly. Otherwise the balance of the assembly will be compromised.
| |||
7 | Remove the bolts (4) attaching the viscous coupling (2) to the pulley (5). | Secure the coupling (2) in order to prevent damages by its unintentional displacement.
| |||
8 | Remove the fan (1) and the coupling (2). | Displace the coupling (2) to the radiator side and lift it off, upward, together with the fan (1). Place the viscous coupling (2) in a safe place and in vertical position.
| Check | ||
9 | Check the hoses (6,7) and clamps for condition. | Replace if necessary.
10 | Check the viscous coupling (2). | Accumulation of dirt, chiefly on the coupling front face where the bimetallic blade is located, may cause inadequate fan operation. If necessary, carry out cleaning with water, with attention to avoid bimetallic blade damage.
11 | Install in reverse order. |
