Remove/install

Remove upper engine cover

Detach fuel filter and place with attached lines to one side

When removing the glow plug (R9) on the cylinder 3



Remove screw/bolt (1) and remove cover (2)

Disconnect electrical connection at fuel filter condensation sensor with heating element (67)

Disconnect electrical connection at intake port shutoff actuator motor (M55)

6

Disconnect electrical connection at pressure regulating valve (Y74)

7

Disconnect electrical connection from exhaust pressure sensor (B60)

8

Disconnect electrical connection on the fuel pressure sensor (B4/7)

9

Disconnect electrical connection on coolant temperature sensor (B11/4)

10

Disconnect electrical connection (5) on temperature sensor upstream of ATL (B19/11)

Detach vacuum line (4) for vacuum pump at connecting point and place to one side

Unclip cable duct (3) at the unclip shackles (arrows) and raise upwards

Detach electrical connections (6) using a suitable pliers from glow plugs (R9)

14

Clean area around the glow plugs (R9) with compressed air

15

Mark glow plug (R9) relative to the respective installation location

If reusing the glow plug

Remove glow plugs (R9)


If the release torque of the glow plug (R9) is greater than 25 Nm, warm up engine to operating temperature.
The glow plugs (R9) can tear off otherwise.

 Installation: Install glow plug (R9) for recycling on the respective denoted installation location.
